THE POP LEAGUE SPOTLIGHT: SILJE

I am guided by vocals. When I hear a new artist, the vocals have to capture me on some level.

Silje Karlsen's voice captured me right away. Returning to her native Norway, after a recent Liverpool residency, Silje has gained a lot of new fans in the UK.

I found her in MySpace and invited her to The Pop League rather quickly. I actually did not realize how talented she was until I heard her live recording of Pearls In The Trees (heard in The Pop League--Room 3).

The performance is "from the heart", shows an emotional truth and vocal artistry. Her performance, practically a cappella, is in a word-- stunning!

Fluid, colorful songwriting covers a broad range of musical references and styles, from a folkish simplicity to a full-on rock band explosion.

How do you describe a Star in the making? The songs will tell you all you need to know about Silje, and I am certain there is much more we don't know that is coming in future recordings. Catch a rising star!
